Well, it's not flashy, but it IS unique .... Mirage Metallic.
As far as I can tell, it was only available in 1999 and 2000, and there are only **2** Mirage Metallic 996s for sale on AutoTrader currently out of 502 1999-2000 model 996s . . . . If anyone has more info, please let me know.
It also happens to be almost the exact same color as my beloved BMW E30 cabrio (which is "Bronzit Beige"):

I never knew the 996 was available in Arena Red (thought this was just a 993 color). Fantastic looking car, and one of my favorite colors ever. Thanks for posting!! (Looks great with Cashmere interior.)

Ocean Blue isn't that unusual, but it was one of my little surprises when I bought my car. Rolled off the lot in the middle of the afternoon a lovely, deep metallic blue. A real gentleman's sports car.
Then, as the sun went down, the light hit the car from the side rather than above.... ARRRRGGGGHHHH!!!! It's PURPLE!?!?!
Used to it now. If I ever decide to use it as a getaway car, I'll be sure to commit the crime just before sunset. Purple Porsche? Um, no, officer, nothing matching that description around here....

call me boring but with my cars, i like plain jane standard silver. it shows the details, it pops in the sunlight, and is also easier to maintain than the other colors out there.
white is nice, but again, it's just doesn't show the angles, bends of the car very well at all.
black interior is a MUST.

redridge: Do you have more pics of the car (both exterior and interior)? I'm very curious ... Also, I'm assuming the color is unique to the MY 2000 Millennium edition?

Ok I'll call you boring. Silver is so Toyota Camry.
"I'll buy a Porsche in a practical color ..."
I always thought you were style conscious?
I'd buy a midnight blue, forrest green or other darker color with the sand interior. Recently I have developed fetish for sand interiors.
Black interior is so, well, black.
