Question Firing Order (Spark Plug - Replacement)

Gents, I am going to install the new Pulsar Spark Plugs this long weekend, However I need to know the firing order as well as the number of the cyclinder. I will let you know of my outcome and testing with the Pulsar's.

just a question ? why would that matter ? a coil pack for each plug. not a single distributor old school. no timing light needed etc.

The reason is when I changed the plus to Pulsar the OBDII errored out with Plug #3 - So I needed to understanding the order - no worries I found what I am looking for.

Cant hold out on us.......what was the problem with #3?

One of the Pulsar plugs were defective - But the engine response is truly noticeable.

I hope you realize that the claimed power increase for those plugs are a gimmick, don't you. Of course, when you replace worn out plugs with new ones, your performance will increase. The same increase will be there whether you use $5 plugs or $25 plugs.

If your coils and engine compression are up to specks, there is not need for the "claimed" increase in wattage from the Pulstar plugs.

But, enjoy the placebo effect while it lasts.

How was response better with a defective plug? That is a reduction in 17% of your power if a cylinder is not firing.

Be careful on swapping to different plugs on coilover ignitions. I learned this lesson the hard way on another car swapping from NGK Platinums to Iridiums. The resistance was too low, giving more voltage than the plug could take. Remember the output of coil-on-plug systems are much higher than single coil systems. In my case there was so little resistance, it burned the ground side off the plugs in a month. If felt great at first, but after a week felt like the plugs were fouling. A month later the car start having problems starting. Pulling the plugs, they were toast. Not very good for $11/ea spark plugs.

I was surprised when I changed my plugs in the 996 a couple of months ago and found out the OEM plug is a Bosche Platinum +4. I installed a new set of OEM +4s. The advantage of the +4 is for long term life. Despite 4 ground electrides, the spark only travels along 1. As the end wears, the spark moves to the another ground. This basically provides equal performance throughout the life of the plug. At least that is what they say they do. I had 49K when I pulled mine originals. They still had 2 good grounds left and the tip looked fine so they appear to be right.

When I replaced the plugs in my 996, it wasnt the ground straps that had eroded, it was the sides of the electrodes where the spark made its leap to the ground strap.

yea why you guys go for diff plugs i have no idea. stay stock plugs.
