Well, I changed my own plugs ($50+ in parts) and had to order a new boot ($22). I started on 12-23-07 and finished 1-1-08. So figure $100/hr labor, and 8 working hrs./day, thats 56 hrs. or $5600 I would have had to charge. That's doesn't include band aids and all the TLC and encourgement I needed from Rennlist folks.
Good thing I'm not a mechanic.
Actually, if I do it again, I think I could do it in about 3-4 hours. Those little bugars are hard to get to!!
Air Filter $65 and 20 minutes.
Check Polyrib belt, 30 seconds.
Cabin air filter, 15 minutes.
Change oil/filter, 45 minutes.
Rennlist has more than paid for the contribution I made 10 times over in the DYI's!!

Wow, so all these years I was getting railed and didn't even know it. I assumed $1200+ was normal for this kind of thing. Now I know for next time. I had my services done at Brandywine.

Reminds me of when I got a bill got $1562.43 from Carlsen Porsche in Palo Alto, CA (before their move to Redwood City) for a 15K maintenance on my 94 Speedster (car had 8K on the odometer, btw).
I just did ANOTHER 15K maintenance during the summer of '06 at the local PCar dealer in Utah and the bill was $623.43.
Nice, eh? It pays to shop around...

30K Service charge
I called Newport Beach Porche (where I bought my car) and they wanted $1300 for the 30K service and another $300 for transmission fluid change.
I called McKenna (sp?) and they wanted $1300 including the tranny fluid change.
Both dealers included the service manuals 30K items + spark plug change. They said that they always do the spark plug change at 30K plus all the filters.
After reading various posts on this site, I ended up deciding that I'll try it myself. I hope I can get around to it this weekend.

My 30K service was done at Rusniak Porsche in Pasadena for $901.60 (Parts=$361.60, Labor=$540) when the car was still in CA last yr. They did replaced all the filters, spark plugs and the oil but a lot of other things are just "check". Looks like the plugs were the hardest job, so if you can do that, you can do all DIY. GL.

Good luck! The filter changes are pretty straight forward. As far as the spark plugs, they are accessible, believe it or not. I think the key to that job is don't put a time limit on it. Remember to inspect the boots closely (I had 1 split) and no anti-sieze on the plugs!
