1999 996 Limited Slip Witout Traction Control?
#32
I've got the 220, 222, 224 option code on a '99 and I assumed I had LSD. BUT.. I talked to a dealer who advised that LSD is VERY rare and the only way to confirm is to run the VIN on the Porsche computer and it will print every option. It didn't print LSD. He told me that the common 220 code is an old recycled LSD code.

I am not sure who your dealer is, but the 220 code is not a "recycled" code designation. It has been used on every model Porsche for years. If your car is correct, you may very well have the same list as mine. Here are my codes along with the factory definition:
09991 EXCLUSIVE OPTIONS (manufactured from the exclusive-program)
CO2 - CATALYTIC CONVERTER
XAA - FACTORY INSTALLED AEROKIT CUP
XRL - 18" SPORTDESIGN WHEEL
220 - LOCKING DIFFERENTIAL 40 %
222 - TRACTION CONTROL SYSTEM
224 - AUTOMATIC LIMITED SLIP DIFFERENTIAL
236 - 18" TIRES
375 - SPORTSEAT, BACKREST SHELL, LEFT
378 - COMBINATION SEAT, RIGHT, ADJUSTABLE
424 - CD COMPARTMENT
436 - 3-SPOKE AIRBAG STEERING WHEEL
652 - DELETE SUNROOF
983 - SEAT COVERS FRONT, LEATHER
Be happy, you have a rare ride.

I honestly believe that it is time for you to find a new dealer. One who is informed.

I've got a printout directly from the computer at the dealer and it doesn't have the LSD listed on the options at all. It has all the options and prices next to them. It shows the original dealer, warranty date, order number, and all the details.... I'd like to believe I've got the 220 code like it says under the hood... so can someone else try this?? And Chad I love your car.. mine's identical except with sunroof.

Call Porsche customer service. They can run the vin and look up EXACTLY what the car was built with.
I have done this on many occasions with various cars. They are very helpful.

What if it was not an original hood.... so the option sticker would not match a VIN lookup? Just a possibility.
Thankfully, mine has the TC and LSD and even verified from Porsche NA. So, how rare is this on a 1999 996 anyways?

'99 C2 Coupe manual.
Haven't called Porsche, but I've got the codes underhood.
220 - LOCKING DIFFERENTIAL 40 %
222 - TRACTION CONTROL SYSTEM
224 - AUTOMATIC LIMITED SLIP DIFFERENTIAL
But instead of calling Porsche, isn't there some way to manually test this...like doing donuts in my local mega-church parking lot?
(edit: referring to this classic "test" video, in case you've never seen a hot Bug before)

I had this conversation with my dealer and they held the opinion that there are some unreliable option stickers. They had commented that my option sticker and the car did not match and that I had more factory options than were listed on the sticker and some options that were on the sticker, but not on the car.
I asked if it was possible to have things corrected on the computer and they said not - apparently Porsche doesn't like to admit their mistakes once the car leaves the factory.
...consequently when you run my VIN number it pulls up a different interior color than is actually in the car and results in the wrong part being ordered.
