We don't use it in Canada, we do have license plate covers that protect the license plate from the abuse of the elements.

The plate covers are BS.

Depending on the state you live in. I drove around in California for 3 years with no front or rear plate on my car. I just keep the dealer registration sticker in the front window. I was NEVER pulled over or questioned about it.

However that is in California where you have to wait for your tags to come in the mail, you do not drive off with them at the dealer like in some states.
