Default Simple Porsche Terminology question

So... when the engine is referred to as bank 1 or bank 2, which side are they referring to? Left Side, Right Side, Passenger, Driver?

Thanks.

Standing at the rear of the car looking at the accessory pulley, the factory manuals label the left side of the engine bank 1-3, with #1 being closest to you, and the right side of the engine bank 4-6, with #4 being closest to you.

I've never encountered anything in the manuals that talk about "bank 1" and "bank 2". But that doesn't mean it isn't in there, or that you really might be asking an OBD-II kind of question.

Left bank is Bank-1, some europeans call it bank-A. Bank-1 is the side that the first plug fires on.

Bank 1 & 2 is OBD-II speak and is not unique to Porsche. Assuming you don't have a inline engine (then all you have is bank 1), then Bank 1 is on the passenger side of the car.

Does that help?
