Guys - I usually don't get involved with the "oil" threads other than to throw a little popcorn around. However, after reading all of these "oil" threads, I am so confused! Since I plan to change my oil today, I need your sage advice. Yesterday I bought 1 quart of each of the following weights of oil (approved weights shown in bold).
0w-20
0w-30
0w-40
5w-20
5w-30
5w-40
5w-50
10w-30
15w-50
By my calculations, the TPB (Tim's Personal Blend) will be a 5W-34.4 blended weight.
So I have 3 questions:
1) Will my car be totally protected across the full spectrum?
2) When I remove the oil filter, does it make any difference what color oil filter wrench I use?
3) What color are the shoes my wife bought last night?
Thanks, in advance, for the help!

FWIW, I asked my dealer (Holberts) whether to bring my own Mobil I 0-40 for my oil change - they said that wouldn't be necessary since that's the only one they use! Of course, they did a very careful job - it took 1.5 hours for oil service and bleeding brakes - total was < $200 (with PCA discount), which really surprised me. I think they felt sorry for me.

I'm actually doing 6qt 0W40 with the rest 15W50. I read that on Rennforums or one of the FAQs somewhere.
Not to hijack the thread but...
I hope nobody has an issue with mixing oil, do they?
thanks,
Amir
