Not much changed from the 3.6L engine in '03 to the 3.6L engine in '05. The '05 version was in teh base 997 and gained 5 HP from 320 to 325. If I recall correctly, the Vario-cam was midified a little and became Vario-cam Plus. There are probably a few other changes but nothing substantial.

'05 also saw the introduction of the 3.8L engine, which was the basis for the 997 S model, and produced 355 HP.

Des-

Do you have a full size of your avatar? That would be a great picture in my office

I think the '05 C4S had the same engine as '02-04 C4S? Not too sure....just throwing that out there to get things cookin here.

And....I think Des drew that himself!!! Or maybe another RL'er did? I recognize that style from a recent thread here. Nice.

I am a motorsport illustrator and that is one of mine. It should be in Christopheros magazine soon. They are sold at Motowheels .com. if they are out, contact me and I will be more than happy to send you one. They are sold at $30. They are Giclee printed on archival paper. Very minimalist...very Porsche. I will post most.

Everyone knows the 3.4L engine is prone to catastrophic failure as apposed to the 3.6L engine. And my name isn’t Willis.

Fellas, they are ALL the M96 motor! The design hasn't changed, the block hasn't changed, and until there is a total redesign (2010 or 2011 with the 998) the 99-01, 02-04, 05+ all have essentially the same motor with small tweaks here and there to pick up a few ponies or with the 997S to increase displacement slightly.

in 03 the 996 has the 3.6 litre not the 3.4. it changed from 3.4 to 3.6 in my-02. and dell is right they all share the same basic m96 design.

I couldn't locate this on motowheels. If you have a link that would be sweet. Otherwise, I might have to take you up on ordering directly from you.

And maybe you could sign the back - "to my fellow 996er with the non-exploding 3.4 engine..."
