Default Antifreeze Question

I can smell antifreeze when I bring the car back in the garage...is that normal? None of my other vehicle exhibit this smell. It is usually faint and outside the car.

Many Thanks.

You could have a slight leak, I'd suggest you check it out before it gets bad and leave you stranded somewhere at the most inconvenient time. Don't ask me how I know.

Check hoses first, but also inspect your coolant tank. Many on this site have had cracks in the tank OR a bad coolant cap. A new cap from the dealer cost me under $20.

Common problem. Try a search on either "coolant" or "tank" and you'll get a morning's worth of reading.

I agree w/Tim. Anywhere from hoses to coolant tank to coolant tank cap to water pump. All are fairly common. Ask me how I know...

you have a new engine right? Its possible that when they topped your car off they spilled some on your engine and is now burning off. They take awhile before they dry up, maybe up to 2 weeks...

Better yet print them out and take them to the can with you.

Sometimes, we as a race, take a step backwards. This is one of those times.

I'm no big city doctor but I'm guessing Darwin isn't shaking anything.
