Maintenance Question
Jeez, the crap I have to endure to get some winter maintenance questions answered.
Tim, "hibernation" is a relative term. And you'll simply not forgive me for not knowing the little green circle and arrow was the cruise control indictator in the first place. When you get to be my age, you'll understand all of this. Good thing you guys know what you're talking about, or I'd have to check out the Buick LeSabre boards...

Phil - I would be willing to bet you "2,000 miles of driving in 2008" that I am probably older than you are, so your "age" is not the reason you didn't know about the "little green circle and arrow" thingy! It was because you never needed to set cruse control while driving up and down your driveway, so you couldn't possibly have know what it was!
Tim, I just realized that I run 20-25 miles/week. Conservatively, that's 1000 miles/year. Which means I put more miles on my feet than I do my Porsche. Maybe if I stop running over the winter, I'll inflate my shoes for foot maintenance. Damn, I gotta start driving this thing! I may bet you 1,000 miles in 2008 that I'm older than you, but you're pushing it with a 2,000 mile bet...

Think about it this way - what do you have to lose? If you win the bet, you can maintain status quo. If you lose the bet, you "win" because you will spend more time in your beautiful C4S. Sounds like a "no brainer" bet to me!
Besides, everyone here on Rennlist is going to have to drive their P-cars more next year anyway so ya'll can make up for the miles I won't drive in my car after I sell it. After all, the Porsche Phorce MUST stay in balance!
So Phil..... do we have a bet???????

I'm 56 and won't be 57 until February of next year. Well, no "extra" mileage for you 2008! Well, at least you can't say I didn't try!
I knew that Phil was older than you. Now you've blown any chance that Phil will ever take his car beyond the end of his driveway.Think about the pitiful sight - Phil sitting at the end of the driveway in his C4S. He's watching the traffic zoom by at a scary 65mph - a sad and whistful tear in his eye as he wishes that he could go and play with the big boys. Suddenly, inspired, he breaks out the bag of throat losenges (he buys in bulk from BJ's) and erupts into an enthusiastic chorus of Vrrrrrroooooommmm!!! exclamations for the next half hour. After getting all the pent up "driving" out of his system he sheds another lonely tear and slowly pulls the C4S back into the garage and covers it up for the Winter.
Tim, you had to do this while I wasn't around!

I thought if I could get him to bet me I had a chance win and he would be compelled and honor bound to "pay up" on the bet by driving 2,000 miles next year. I'm at the end of my rope! I fear that all is lost!
hi...my winterizing is a bit different than Phil's. I just ordered a winter set of knockoffs and Blizzaks. With AWD...what the hell...right? I returned my '06 3 series yesterday as the lease just ended. I put 22 miles on it since june...lol. On the other hand.....I have put over 5K on my 4S in the same time. Holy Moly....I have put twice the mileage on in 3 months than Phil has put on since his car was born. Phil, it's the greatest thing in the world. I really didn't anticipate using my car as a daily thru the winter, but I just can't imagine not driving it for prolonged periods. It's no good for these things....geeeeeez.
And to really get things going, should I stick with 0W-40 in the cold months? Don't feel like doing a search to sift thru a gazillion threads.

Hi Tim,
I'm still up in the air with 19's for non winter....so many choices. And last night, as I was wiping down the wheel dust, I stood back and asked myself...."why the hell are you getting wheels already? These stock twists look fantastic". so, I may just sit it out a bit, or wait to see if I get tired of them down the road. At that point, maybe I'll grab some wheels to "spruce" up the look. Although with my alignment issue, I just ordered Falken 452's all around. I have them on my '85, and they have been fantastic, on the track as well. So, I'll give them a shot for this car too. I'm really into getting great bang for the buck (but I'm not cheap!!). I really like my ps2's, but the rears are almost shot on the inside....too much neg. camber I think. Once I get the new tires, I'll get an alignment and see how it was set before.
As far as knockoffs for the snow, I got the techno style, which I happen to like a lot as well. They are for the NB cars, so I'll probably end up getting spacers for the rears, but I'm gonna see how they look without them first. I figure they will retract by about 1/2 inch (15mm), so we'll see. I'm kinda excited to see what this car can do in the snow. Not that I'm gonna go nuts or anything, but it's really gonna be nice to be able to actually move, as opposed to my CRAPPY bimmer in the snow, which was returned yesterday as the lease ended. I haven't driven it since I got this P car. I ended getting stuck 3 times last winter.....and I consider myself a very competent winter driver. The tires (didn't get snows) on that car SUCKED BIG TIME. I hated them. Felt like I was a mustang gt.
Anyhow, here's the link to the replicas....and the price is great, especially for wheels that are basically gonna get a bit beat up with the elements. I'm interested to see how they will hold up, but again, the price is great.

Phil....sorry for the hijack. Please forgive us.
