Default 996 TT looking to buy one tips on typical problem areas

I have been looking for a bit, starting to feel the itch to buy another Porsche. The new 997's are a little out of my reach, but the 996 TT is just about right...what are some of the most common problem areas w/the TT? Things I should be on the lookout for? I am not @ home to scour my Library of Porsche books and I have found one that I am very interested in..thinking about going to go see it as soon as my offshore hitch is over.

Thanks

understandable...one I am looking @ is moderately modded already I wouldn't need to do much else unless I were wanting to go w/a GT700 upgrade or something similar.

The Turbo Cut-Off Valves just went bad in mine. The dealer wanted $750 to fix it. I bough the parts for $160 and my friend is fixing it for a nice dinner.

Post your question on the 996 tt board...will get alot of responses based on personal experience. In my case I just had to replace the power steering resorvoir tank for a tune of $900.00 These cars are expensive to repair and maintain. Also different model years suffer some different illnesses.

I personally would not buy a modded car because you do not know how aggressively the PO drove his car.

I think he means diverter valve (DV).

Thanks guys for the responses Hopefully a Mod can move this for me, otherwise I'll move it to the TT forum...I wasn't paying attention to what forum I was in when I posted this.
