Default Scared to drive my 996. Going back to M3

Before I joined Rennlist, I was VERY happy with my car for over 6 yrs. My 1999 runs strong...looks awsome and has been the most reliable car I have ever driven.
Then I joined Rennlist and now I feel aweful about my purchase. All I hear from you guys is "Faulty exgines", bad trannys, bad switches, RMS problems. Im afraid to drive my car and now want sell my car as as possible. What is the best way to sell in 30 days. I dont want to sell her but i cant afford a $10k engine replacement. You guys scared me straight backto the dark side of the M3

Why would you trade a car that runs good and you like to something you know nothing about. Last time I was in the BMW shop there were allot of them in there also with problems.

I may be mis-reading this post...but it seems to be in a sarcastic tone (I hope). I think this is a general commentary on how ppl on this board complain about the problems with they're cars.

If this post is serious, then I don't know what to say--doesn't make sense to get rid of a car that has been perfectly reliable for 6 years.

If you like your car, do not let a "board" take the pleasure of owning it. I have an e46m3 and while I like it, it is NOT nearly as fun, exciting and RELIABLE as my 99c4...

My engine was replaced under (factory) warranty this year after two mnthes of digging my p-car. At the time it seemed such a hassle waiting to hear about what would happen, rebuild or remanafactured. Was very disapointed with the whole situation and was ready to sell after I got it back. Now there is no way I would leave Porsche, if anything perhaps a GT3 in my future but after getting behind the wheel again.... well you all know why.

BTW, '03 C2 had 38,000KM on it when the intermadiate shaft took it down.

Enjoy your P-car like you always have. Engine replacement in any car is a expensive thing any way.

There is nothing like a Porsche.

Happy motoring,

G

M3's....really bad control arm bushings...and lots of other small stuff that goes wrong. Big money for some little fixes. My 3 series hasn't moved in 3 months...just sitting in the driveway? Am I afraid to drive it? heck no....I DON'T ENJOY DRIVING IT ANYMORE. It's a great car, just doesn't do a darn thing for me except give me more rear room....that's it. Awful awful run flat tires are so freagin loud, I can't even hear my bluetooth.

Anyhow, my reasoning in the beginning sounds silly to not drive a car....so does yours. Buck up....your car is great. Your rationale is odd. Your car can't be worth more than 10K since there are inevitable issues...I'll wire the money to you tomorrow. PM me. Silly? yes.

You make the statement that it's the most reliable car you have ever driven and your going to get rid of it??

I don't even know what to say.

Makes me think about the story of the guy who only dates ugly girls because he is worried that a good looking girl will cheat (never has cheated of course, but she might).

Good luck with your M3, I hope she doesn't cheat.....oops I mean "break".

I also read it as sarcasm - and some of it is true.

Talked to my local luxury car importer recently, and he says people research about 996 on the internet - and end up scared ****less about early 996 models. So much, that he has had to stop taking in _any_ early 996 because its unsellable.

I have just been staring at my 996 lately.....after reading all the rennlist posts I am afraid to drive my 99 996 with 72.ooo miles...I have put 20.ooo miles on it in the last 2 years...but now I am afraid....sooooo afraid....I am also thinking of buying a m3.....because BMW's are bullit proof they never break down and if a M3 engine fails it cost only 1 dollar to replace!! BUT it never happens that a BMW engine completely fails!!

PS yes this is all meant to be sarcastic!!!!!

good think this is being sarcastic.
i had 6 bimmers, inc many M powered cars. great grocery getters, but not as fun as porsches. and reliable... LOL, certainly not mine, by a long shot. one time i got so pissed off when it broke (e36m3) i left it on the side of the fwy, walked home...until CHP called me.

you want reliability and bullet proof. buy honda. NOTHING comes close.
