Varies widely. There are numerous aviation search engines where you can see Jet-A being sold today for as little as $2.70/gal up to $6/gal.

Average seems to be around $4.25-$4.75 at midsize to large airports. Then there are discounts of up to 50-75 cents/gal if you buy large quantities (maybe 500-1000gals+).

Price is comparable for 100LL as well. They are usually within 20 cents of each other.

But rest assured that I have the highest respect for those that work on the piece of aluminum that holds my butt in the air. Many of them are my dear friends and I know they want to see me come home safely as much as I do!

Last time I got some was years ago @ HPN, IIRC...
Uh, unless I have a 'winged receptacle', I will have to pass on the 'high volume discount!'
It was 'concerning enough' surrounded by barrels of VP racing fuel in the hot pit @ Road America's ALMS race... during the lightening storm!
Thanks!

No chest pounding. Just saying we are in the same business, but on different ends.

I am only half right on this topic, it is true that octane stops on a 100 point scale. it is not HEPTANE that goes over 100. I dont know what it is now as I did a quick search to confirm my statement and realized that heptane is on the low end of octane. Sorry for the mis info.

........That's why I said I put in in my TURBO bike.

So I guess I'm lucky that the closest gas station to me is a Sunoco which carries 94 here in the midwest.

Understood that fully.

It was a caution for anyone who might be thinking it was a source of 100 octane fuel for those Porsche thingys since that was the focal point of this thread.

Guess we are lucky here in Canada!!!!!! Both PetroCanada and Sunoco actually have 94 octane!!
In my case when I bought my baby about 2 months ago, my first post I mentioned that it had a "bogging down" sensation between 4-5000rpm when accelerating "briskly", that was on the 91 octane premium that I thought was the best I could get....when I discovered the 94 octane, after a few tankfuls the bogging down is completely gone. ( I also wonder whether the computer adapted to the way I drive compared to previous owner that may not have revved it much?? )

Very good caution indeed.

100LL smells goods while running but once your injectors are clogged and the cats are toast, it doesnt smell so good anymore.

You can run it in any carbureted car or bike though.

Well, I never suggested running it in a Porsche. My turbo bike is fuel injected and I have had no problems running the 100LL. Use to run it in the flat bottom, but it got to be too expensive. When I lived in New York, I used to get 95 octane at the Sunoco stations.

What would be the ratio of 100 octane to 91 octane to arrive @ ~93? Is it a direct correlation, ie. 50/50 = 95.5? TIA.
