Default how much are you guys paying for a 30k maintenance?

I'm about to purchase an '02 C4S (yes, I'll post pics as soon as I get it ;-) and it needs the 30k maintenance. My local dealer (Sonnen in Mill Valley) wants $800 which seems pretty high. Should I be able to find a better price? Any other information I should know?

Thanks and I look forward to contributing to this greatly helpful site!!

Holy crap! Can't you do this yourself? When I had my 993, a 15K service on that car cost around $1600 on average; I did it in a weekend for $150 in parts. OK, and a little bit of swearing, but that's priceless.

Oil changes on a 996 are super-easy, anyone can do a brake bleed, change filters, and many 996s don't require a plug service until later in life. I guess you can pay the dealer for their "inspections" and "verifications" but those prices seem a bit high to me. But I'm cheap...

jkarp,

I worked with Nick at Sonnen and he's a standout guy. $800 does not sound steep at all for 30K maintenance. It's fair and that dealership is solid.

If you speak with Nick, tell him I said I. I'm sure he'll remember me the guy driving his C4S to Seattle from SF. I love that area.

Best,
Ben

it is no doubt a glorified oil change. however, i did it for resale value and, when selling my 996, people seemed to respond favorably to it being done at a p-dealer.

Besides throwing $100 in oil and filters at the car and taking the girl from the reception desk to lunch? Isn't that enough???
