Default The Dreaded....
... air bag light came on. Mine is a 99 and I thought that when I got this fixed years ago, that it was fixed. Did the wash the car thing and put it in the garage. Remind me group what the fix is for this.

You need to have the fault code read with the Durametric Software, a PST2 or a PIWIS. The tester will tell you exactly what caused the fault.

Ditto. Isn't a seat sensor (probably the latch) the most common cause of this on the 996? When shopping for mine, it seemed that the service history on most of these cars had this pop up.
