there is no safety net with the throttle cable. There can be no intervention by the dme as far as throttle is concern therefore your foot is always in control.
With egas, the dme directly controls the throttle and can intervene regardles of what your foot tells it to do. (this is only in extreme conditions).
Of course egas has advantages as well. It serves as a throttle load correction: for eg: if you turn on your ac, the dme knows the load of the ac compressor and will automatically add more gas without you correcting with your foot hence the position of the pedal is more consistent at the same speed regardless of what ancilary equipment is on... there are other advatages, but dont want to bore you.

+1 I'm suprised it made it 3 pages and everyone is still arguing over a classic Dallas post. His alter ego hasn't even posted comments yet.

It did give me a chuckle this morning.

Better - not necessarily -- different yes.
You can find a MY99 without PSM or TC - my personal preference as I am not a fan of TC/PSM.
No egas and some say the early interiors are not as nice. Doesn't bother me - I would have bought the car with no interior.

Each to their own taste.

Well said Loren, Ill never trade mine for another MY, but when its time to upgrade, the year is not as important to me as the model/features....

Thanks porschedog, while thanking the little people I will thank you first. Dont feel bad, one drink holder is still good. Second place is NOT the first loser in this case......

I hate to break out the rule book, but the fewer the cup holders you have the better. I have none.

"Shorter factory workers"

Yes, clearly the average height of the German worker has increased significantly since the '90s. Primarily due to the influx from the former East Germany. The steriods used by the East German women's olympic swimmers got into the water supply and caused uncontrolled growth among the East German population.

It's a well-known fact that short people build better quality products than tall people. Toyota - need I say more?

For this reason, the older the Porsche, the better the quality.
