True.

Well I can say that my 2001 was more "fun" to drive than the 04, but it's a bit unfair to compair the two.

The 99-01 MY 996's may just be the bargin people are looking for now...

I bought my 996 Cab in 99. I love it. See no reason to upgrade. All little stuff fixed first year under warrenty including RMS.

the 99 is supposed to be the "drivers" car because of the less intrusive electronics (traction control instead of PSM and cable throttle) and the lightest of all 996 including the gt3rs... the 3.4 also responds to mods better than the 3.6

can someone learn me why the throttle cable is advantageous? I know that I like the feel of it over my other egas cars but that is it. Thanks

why is the '99 superior to all years?

I'm told the '99 is the lightest and fastest of the bunch and Mk II's are ladden with motor failures and RMS issues. Obviously the weight advantage is huge................ Were the motors built by shorter factory workers than in the later years, I'm told this could account for the difference. I'm sorry for all of the MK II owners but at least it's water cooled and an improvement over the ill fated 993.
I'm sorry, sounds like nonsense to me, and this is the first time I've ever heard of it.

We try to limit knowledge of the vast superiority of our cars.

Mine, for example, has the little-known Invisibility option, controlled by a rocker switch on the dash; it prevents tickets entirely. Also, it runs on Poland Spring bottled water and -with the lighter OEM windshield wipers- is capable of 0-100 in six seconds flat.

I'm reluctant to part with it, but if there's a brother Rennlister in need, I could be persuaded to trade up to a 2002 as long as you throw in some extra cash.

PM me if interested.

You newbies are being "had". The "oldies" should know better.

The "Killa" is in da house.

There have been numerous magazine articles (Excellence and Total 911) comparing the non-egas 99s to the later models. It appears that the non-egas cars respond well to modifications. I know down deep inside that it has to be the superior car because it is the only Porsche that I own.
