Default What's a good price?

I'm looking at purchasing an 02 Carrera with 21,000 miles on the odometer. The options it has are: Coupe, Black with Black Leather Interior, 6 Speed, PSM, Sport Seats, Rear Spoiler, GT Fins, Stainless Exhaust Tips, Xenon Lights, 18" Carrera Light Alloy Wheels, Sunroof, AM/FM CD.

It's not a CPO, the dealer is asking 43,900. Do you think that is a decent price--or should he be able to go lower? NADA has the value of the car for 40k, not sure how accurate NADA is. Any input is appreciated...I would be paying for the car in cash.

I say with those miles it is priced well where it is. I agree you should try for 40+ a bit, but $43 is pretty good. I just got mine for $37, but it had a lot more miles.

It's always tough to give definitive answers to questions like this because market conditions vary so radically. Another factor will be how long has the car been on the Dealer's lot. If it's been there for only a week or two, don't expect him to reduce the asking price by nearly 10%. On the other hand if the car has been on the lot for over a month, and you make your offer near the end of the month, I'd say that you would have a good shot at $40K.

Yeah Pat, you should tell us where you are. Southern California might bring more money than NYC.

But it sounds like a fair asking price.

Price sounds reaonable, you can always offer lower and see where it goes. Dealers like to move cars, most will drop the price after 30 days on the lot. I highly suggest getting a PPI from another shop if you are serious about the car.

I'm in Tampa, FL. How much does a PPI run? Should I only get it done at a Porsche dealership?

Take it to German Tech, owner is Joe Vatter, located in Largo. I'd expect the PPI to run $150-200. I'd bypass the dealer (I'm assuming it's out of warranty) unless you are planning to service it there. It's a LOT cheaper to service these cars at an independent mechanic and Joe's a master...

$40 to $43k for an 02 with 21k. I looking at an 04 with 26k miles at a price of $48k. Your making me wonder if I'm offering to much. The owner is asking $53k

Then I would visit the Dealer on Saturday morning and offer him $40K. If he refuses, then get up and leave his office. I doubt that he will let you get too far. Believe me, the Dealer will want that car off his lot before COB on Saturday.

Mike - my 2004 Lapis Blue C2 is for sale. 41.5K miles. Asking $52, but I have room to move and am willing to talk. Here is a link to all of the particulars:

I will check out German Tech, thanks! The car itself is located about 200 miles south of here...so I would have to do the PPI around there. Is the PPI better to be done at an indy or a dealership?
