Matt - I don't think that is a leather air bag cover. The leather ones usually have stitching on them, like this one.

Tim, I think none of these airbag covers are leather. I got the airbag from Gerd with stichings and I believe it's also plastic. Harold

Harold, the leather airbag is in FACT an option when you order your car as well as available for purchase from the parts counter. If you bought your airbag from Gert with the stiching he sent you a leather airbag. It might not "feel" like the leather on your seats but it is leather.

OK, thanks for the clarification Dell. It makes me feel better to know that I've a full leather steering wheel althought the airbag cover does really look and feel like plastic, especially compared to the rest of the steering wheel.

I was under the impression that the 'leather' airbag was only different in that it had fake stitching moulded in so that it would match the look of the wheel? It's also possible that both exist, of course. I was stunned to discover, while looking for a three spoke wheel for my '00, that there were five pages of parts numbers for the wheel alone. Porsche's business model of high customization/low volume must give the accountants fits...
