The reason why TT are more common is because the GT3 is more of a track car than a street car. Not many will buy one unless you track often. The Carrera and GT3 are much more fun on the track. TT is a little heavier and the high torque and slight turbo lag make is more challenging when coming out of corners.
I personally like the GT3 look better, with a clean & simple lines.

The October 2005 issue of 911 & Porsche World cover the battle of the Turbo vs GT3.
In the end of the extensive article we could read this:
«The veredict: The Porsche fan will love both of these cars, and although they're built for very different purposes choosing between them isn't easy. In the GT3 you would miss the Turbo's refinement. In the Turbo you'd long for the GT3 raw, seat-of-the pants feel. But if forced to choose we'd take the GT3. It may be rather noisier and less pratical than the turbo, but you'll go a long way to find another car that's so communicative and so enjoyable, and that sways it for us. It's not the common-sense choice, but then you only live once.»

For me, it's the refinement, sound deadening, undercarriage, AC (LOL), AWD, the MAD Twin-Turbo thrust, mod-ability, etc..etc..... that I went for.
I think you'll find that the GT3 guys are going to say GT3, and the Turbo guys, the Turbo, and for very different reasons. I think you really need some seat-time in both to decide. Unless of-course you really know what you want to do with it.
The Turbo is obviously a more pricey car, for good reason, there are also a lot more of them out there, more MY's etc... Therefore, the market has become WAY softer for the Turbo and the price came way down and into focus.
I say you are getting WAY more for your money, right now with the Turbo. But, oh what a great choice to have!!

Dell, If you're telling me that there's no reason why the 2004 GT3 was $95k new and the 2004 Turbo was $125, you've lost me.
Cmon now!!

$99.9K and maybe I misinterpreted. Now I understand. The cost is b/c of the extra parts not b/c of some "my car is better than your car" pricing.
However, pre-owned pricing is killing the TT and the GT3 is still holding a greater % of it's value. Either way, still both fantastic cars and as I said I would love to own both.

If you compare prices on 2004 GT3's and 2004 Turbo's they are holding there value about the same (%-wise).
Ya, it is options/parts that make the car more expensive. Which car is better? For me I say Turbo, for you, obviously the GT3. I think the Turbo is the "better" well-rounded, all-purpose, daily-driver'ish SUPERCAR, and the GT3 is the better track car, nay maybe the BEST track car, IN THE ENTIRE WORLD!!!
I think this has been debated over and over and the concensus agrees. so....
PROPS to BOTH!

The TT and GT3 are different cars for different reasons....FYI Gant...MSRP of the 2004 GT3 was $99,900 vs TT at $118,400....so yes you pay more for Turbos, widebody, AWD, but the GT3 will have better suspension, brakes, is lighter....performance wise...to 60 mph, TT is faster by .3 seconds, on a track, the GT3 will be faster due to the lack of turbo lag, and the lighter car being a better handling car...top speed on both cars is the same....TT is more refined and has more creature comforts and will be easier to drive on a daily basis or long trips, the GT3 will be a better track car or weekend car for canyon carving....The GT3 will probably hold its value better.

Thanks you guys for all the input. Test drove both cars and here is my take. The GT3 is definately a race car. Weighs much less and has a much firmer drive. The interior is as plain as it can get. The only leather is the sport seats. The guages are white/silver which is a nice contrast to the all black interior. The Porsche cermic brakes are incredible and the clutch is real stiff compared to my C4S.
The TT is a more refined car. All leather black interior with contrasting stitching and sports seats with painted backs. The stearing wheel and emergency brake handle have the carbon fiber trim which is real nice. The ride is much softer and the clutch effort is much, much softer than the GT3 and even softer than the C4S. The acceleration is fantastic.
Since the car will be a daily driver I think I am going with the TT. If I had a second car to drive daily, I think I would go for the GT3. Both cars are beautiful and share cosmetic similiarities but at the same time are worlds apart.
