Trunk Release and Alarm Remote stopped working!!
After detailing my car today, I noticed my trunk release and alarm remote were no longer working. I searched the forums and found that I should try to manually lock/unlock the car with the key.
I did this, and my trunk release now works.
My alarm remote is not working however, battery is good, light flashes, but it wont arm or disarm the car. I disconnected the battery for 10 min, but the remote still does not work.
Does anyone have any ideas why this would happen and how I can fix this?

Yeah and I also had the same symphtoms as you with the trunk release before it happend.
I armed the car by remote
I could not open by remote
Opened it by the key
The alarm started to whine
I stick the key into ignition and it stopped
Now the trunk release does not work
I armed the car by key
I unarmed the car by key
Now the trunk release works
BUT not the remote

everybody talks of reprograming.........................................
you cannot reprogram a key without the orignal key tag number..................who has that ?
try pulling the drivers seat and check the mini 15 amp fuse in the alarm control unit
if the fuse is blown ID bet your alarm horn is blown

The key sends a different code to the car every time the button(s) is(are)
pressed. There's a semi-random code sequence known only to the remote
and the car.
It is *possible* for this to get out of sync. There's a procedure to fix it.
Reset the microprocessor in the remote first by installing the battery in the remote backwards as described in an earlier post.
Then (from the shop manual):
If the transmitter is operated more than 256 times without reaching the associated receiver (e.g. vehicle outside range or vehicle battery
disconnected), the vehicle will not recognize the radio transmitter the
next time it is operated. If the number of operations is less than 1024,
it is possible to perform re-synchronization as described below:
- Switch on ignition with key and valid transponder.
- Switch off ignition.
- Remove ignition key from steering lock.
- Operate transmitter within 6 seconds after the key has been removed.
- The lock-in range has now been reset to zero (as is the case with every recognized transmitter operation).
I did this on my car once, and didn't fix it.
What DID fix it was using the correct and fresh battery. I bought a new CR2032 batt and it worked. I don't know why, but a DL2032 did not work for me. It might have been old on the store shelf, but unfortunately I threw away the packaging before I noticed it didn't work. Measuring the voltage in the remove with the button pressed I found it to be low.

First, in case you are unaware, the computer automatically disables from accepting signals from the key if the ignition is not turned on for 5 days. If you simply take the key and turn it on and off again and the button works fine. If it is still having a problem, most likely it is the battery in the key going bad. Unfortunately, when the batteries do go bad the keys normally have to be reprogrammed...which is typically 1 hour labor at your Porsche dealer.

when the batterys go bad you do not have to get anything reprogramed.
You can not reprogram a remote with out the original key tag............no one keeps them.........
the fuse is in the alarm ecu under the drivers seat
