Absolutely! Tim has asked me to take photos of you car just to prove that it exists.

Oh man, if I still have my P-car then, it would almost be worth the drive to see Phil's car in person! I have seen "slightly used" 996's before, but I have never see a "never used" 996!

BTW, what is the Radnor Hunt Show? Is it on June 6th or June 10th?

Wayne - you car looks great!

The show at Radnor Hunt is on the 10th. It's the 50th anniversary of the PCA Reisentoter Region - the plan is for each of the past 50 year to be represented by a Porsche from that year. Other cars are to be displayed in the corrall. I'm not sure if any other cars/marques are set for display at the show, or whether it's strictly a P-car event. BTW, Tim - I forgot to ask why you're selling your C2?

I don't get how a virtually new '99 C2 should sell for $30k? Isn't that what 40k mile '99's sell for?

I think this forum is responsible for driving the prices DOWN on our cars!

I'm not a big fan of paying a premium for a super low mileage car which you will only depreciate out quickly if you drive it. So I would opt for a 30K or so mile car--maybe a dealer trade, Porsche certified, with records.

I was looking at a Porsche certified 01 996 C4 coupe with 27K miles which my dealer was offering me for $45K.The 2 year warranty certification is worth about $2K. It drove well, but had an RMS replacement after just 27K miles. I was a bit concerned about that issue. I chose, instead, an '03 Boxster with 30K miles, which was also certified, drove the back roads about as well, and was a lot cheaper. It was a better deal, since the car had been bought new at the dealer and traded there for a new 986. A one owner, well-cared for car they didn't have much money into.

I think the safest way to buy these cars is Porsche certified from a good dealership. They'll give you a good deal depending on how much money they have put into the car.

Thanks Tim. I know you like to see new photos occasionally and I've not taken any since I added the new plate on the car.

I'm also curious to hear about the moves to trade your car - what's going on Tim? Trading up or out?

The thing is Andy, that it's not virtually new - It's 8 years old.

A low milage car is low on wear and tear, but cars age, even when they're not used.... hose and belt fatigue is significant, maybe even worse on a car that's not used.

Taking a p-car off the showroom floor and not using it doesn't make it immune to depreciation.

A used car is better than an unused older car every time - it has had the kinks worked out, it has been worn in, you know it's strengths and weaknesses.

Show me any car (with the exception of an exotic) that you'd expect to hold it's value after 8 years.

Wayne's right here. Quality exotics will hold or increase their value - our P-cars, as nice as they may be are not collector cars. Andy, I disagree that this forum is responsible in any way for driving down the prices on our cars - I don't get your argument. The market is what it is for them. If someone really wants a very particular car (color/year/model/mileage/options), they'll be willing to pay more for it.
