It is the 3.6L kit. The oiling kit as optional on the 3.6L. I'm not sure about the 3.4.

The parts are nicely polished from the factory and fit great. I'm sure you could improve them slightly but not a lot.

Also keep in mind the X51 for the 3.4L engine WILL NOT fit on the US model 3.4L cars....I forget exactly why, but something about the US vs European differences which make it impossible to add it to our cars. This came up on 6 speed online when someone wanted to order a new engine and saw a 3.4L x51 engine listed by Porsche and wanted to put it in his US car. Wont work...

Yes

Newport, I think it was just that the euro version wasn't smog certified in the US. At least that is what I was told.

I think it was more about the cylinder heads used in the 3.4L X51 having something extra, or needed something extra so it would PHYSICALLY not work on a US 3.4L car. It wasnt a smog certification as not all US states require one and that wouldnt put off some people in states that did...like people that bought superchargers in CA....lots of them, and they proably will never get a smog certification.

Newport,

I looked all around and see no information stating this. Only thing mentioned on RennTech is that early 99 cars had a different piston design which required you to swap them out... but that is misleading since the X51 parts list for the 3.4 includes new pistons required to clear the more aggressive exhaust valves.

Damn! I wish you had told me that last year! I never would have had the kit installed if I knew it were impossible!

Certainly. Won't fit. Don't need anyone else even trying. Any 3.4l X51 parts that may still exist won't fit your engines anyway, so don't even buy 'em. Leave 'em for me for spares.

Actually, the description in the manual, which isn't really the X51 parts list, lists pistons, but they aren't a part of the kit, nor are they necessary, at least for an '01.

So you have a 3/4L X51 ENGINE from Porsche? Or you installed an X51 kit o your non X51 engine....I am just stating what Brandywine Porsche said in another forum about the 3.4L X51 engine. They said it was not a possibility for US cars, stated why....I took them to be pretty reliable, if they are wrong great as a COMPLETE 3.4L X51 engine was under 10k.

Based on the number of header manifolds - that must be a 12 cylinder version

Installed 3.4l X51 kit onto no X51 US 3.4l engine (2001). It might actually be harder, though no where near impossible, to put the 3.4l X51 engine in a US car.

I was going to mention that, but got distracted looking for the AC suction pipe.
