Depends a bit on the truck you got, and a bit on what matters to you. Mine's been very reliable, and I got lucky with a fair and competent dealer to service it. But it's also true that I love a car with personality, and I'm willing to give up a bit of convenience and even performance to have it. Life's too short to drive a dull car, even if it's a bit high maintenance.

This, as my wife is looking at a rebuild of her RAV4's engine because of oil gelling.

I hear you about it being a tank. I was suddenly stopped at an intersection when a new (this was a couple years ago) Suburban hit me in the rear. I know that the important stuff was up front in his vehicle, but his 'burban had to get piggie-backed out of there and I just drove home with a dented tailgate. A tank for sure!
