Default AC control question

Well I didn't need to try to make my other screwed up thread work but I have a question about the AC controls. Some people have them on the very bottom and I wanted to know if that had to be done aftermarket or if there was some option on the 996?

Mine came with the AC controls on the bottom, I moved them up so I could install a pocket in their place.

I dont think its an option from the factory to have them in the bottom but cars that have the NAV option obviously get them on the bottom....

I just moved mine down 2 days ago and it's very simple...

Did you go with the bottom slot or the top slot? I remember you wanted the top slot. I think... That one guy had the custom fitted one

What part did you need?

The AC controls are on the bottom if you have NAV.

I used the bottom slot. It just doesnt fit in the top slot. The piece you need is a trim ring and its supposedly only about $6-8...

I have an extra lower console and AC control unit so I am going to play with that in my spare time to try and fit something. If i butcher it then O well...

Is there a guide or something to doing this? I don't really feel like messing up the beautiful P-Car.

It's really simple...Pull off the side leather covers by pulling out from the back and forward...

Pull off the batwing, the slot, and the cd holder(they all just pop off)...Next pop off your console surround. It snaps off too but you may need something to gently pry to get it started. After this is off you should see the 2 screws holding the AC unit in. Undo them and pull it out. Disconnect the wires. Now you also have to do the same with the other item. Once all 4 of these things are out. You have to fish the wire of the AC controls down through the middle. You will see what I mean when you have it open. Grab it and pull it through and you are all done besides putting it back together.

If you want anything more detailed let me know...I might have some pics too...
