Default built in radar detector...operation questions (pics)

The previous owner of my car had a built in radar detector installed. It is really pretty cool but I was wondering if anyone has seen anything like it and can answer some questions about how it works. As you can see from the first picture, there is a on/off switch installed in the dash in front of the shifter. It has a volume control and you can turn it on by switching right or left of vertical. It is off in the picture. I assume one way is "city" and the other way is "highway" but with no instructions, i don't know which is which? I have tried driving the same route where a bank makes it go off and click back and forth, but it's tough to tell. Also, when it beeps, there are two lights in the dash that light up. They are the explanation points on either side of the warning lights. Sometime the right one lights up, sometimes the left and I can't figure out why? Different bands? If anyone has seen one like this and knows the details, please let me know.

thanks

You have a K40 remote system. On/Off/Hwy/City and Volume on that switch.

Head to www.k40.com for details on operation, and if you run into trouble, email me. I have details at the office.

I like te exclamation points set up in your display. My K40 has old school LEDs.

It's a K40 built in. if you have 2 lights and hear sounds in the front and back you have sensors at both ends of the car.

See for manual:

Check in air opening under front license plate and see if they also installed the optional radar diffuser (looks like a plastic bar).

Cool! I think this is what I have!! Is this a good system? Do I have the radar diffuser - check under my license plate.

How is it compared to more modern detectors (this one is 7 years old)??
