Default Interesting Excellence piece about the M96 engine.

In the June issue. They were writing about 986s, but it's relevant. A detailed explanation of the "dreaded" RMS issue, and an interesting explanation for why so many engines were replaced early in the history of the design. Turns out the method Porsche used to test leaky motors was flawed. I'll refrain from editorializing, but if the subject is interesting to you, it's worth a trip to the magazine stand.

I have this issue. Don't recall coming across the article, but I will check....

Is it the issue with cover article being Cayman 2.7 vs 911 2.7?

What section is the 986/M96 article you mentioned? Is it the Tech section?

Yup, that's the issue and, yup, it's in the tech section.

Excellent find - could they have buried that write-up any deeper in the mag!

You'd think that a decent tech review like that should at least get a whole page and some pictures, not get split into a dozen sections buried in the ads.

Folks interested in the issues should also read the two articles linked from here:

http://www.autofarm.co.uk/engines/water_cooled/press

And also this RMS specific article:
