Default Help, C4S exhaust tip problem

So I get out of the car after my commute to work today and notice one of my exhaust tips is pointing up and to the right at a crazy angle on my 2003 C4S. I try to get on all fours to see what is going on which is hard since I'm dressed for work and can't really get messy.

It seems like a bracket is broken that holds the tip and the tip is attached to a curved pipe about 10" long that seems to rotate freely now, but does not give when lightly tugged on. This pipe appears to connect to the exhaust as best as I can tell without crawling underneath. This is with a real Porsche Sports exhaust that was installed a couple of years ago after I got the car. And they are the stock tips that came with the car.

Has anybody had this problem? Is the bracket really broken or is it just a support piece and is the real problem that the pipe is loose. Can the pipe be tightened somehow so that I can ignore the broken bracket (assuming it is broken)? Finally would you drive it back this way? I'm afraid it will fall off on the highway, but I'm not sure I should try to tug harder at the pipe to dislodge it since then the exhaust would just flow straight into the rear of the car.

Thanks for help!

Do you have a picture?
There is just one clamp that holds the exhaust tip (tailpipe) on. If it breaks then the tip may fall off.

One day I noticed my left exhaust tip is drooping on by C4S. Took it to a dealer who said I broke the bracket hitting it somehow. I never did hit anything but I let them fix it for $80. I don't know how it broke. I drove around with it drooping for a while without it falling off.

so the problem is that there is an L shaped bracket that is tightened on the exhaust tip and connects to a n exhaust tube in the back to hold the tip up. This bracket broke. I managed to use some wire to tie the tube going from the tip to the tube behind it and it is pretty solid, it will hold up for a few days.

Anyone know the part number to this bracket so I can order a replacement?

If you can indentfy the part on this PET diagram, I can give you the Porsche part number.

Brad - yeah, I couldn't see anything in the PET that looked like what he was describing. It may not be shown in the PET.

Thanks guys. It is not in that picture. It is a L shaped bracket that attaches to the exhaust tube near part number 29 on one end and to the tip (part 21) on the other end. Perhaps it is a C4S only part? Since my tip (part 21), connects to a tube 11" long or so which then connects to the muffler (part 20 above) which is not shown above, I think that diagram is not for a C4S.

go to any muffler shop and they can weld it in place or fix it for you...I would not take it to the dealership for something like that...unless it is under warranty. $ 30 is what a muffler shop charged me to do something similar on my STi...
