Default Rear Seat delete kit ala GT3

Anyone know what parts are needed. Just a carpet kit or is it more involved?

dont need anything..just take off the parts and leave the little plastic caps on...the carpet from the GT3 is optional, and it looks nice...but its not necessary

But then you have that hump in the back seat area if there is nothing to make it flush?

To answer your question, the back of a GT3 looks like the back of a 996 without the seat hardware. The only thing that I can think is missing is the GT3 script on the front of the package shelf.

Yes, the hump is there.

It looks deeper without the seat. I think if I just take out the seat the area is higher. Can you see from the photo what I am talking about?

Not quite sure I follow. Are you asking, "Is there a difference between the rear seating area in a regular 996 versus a 996 GT3?" The answer is just hardware, velcro-ed in seat bottoms and a layer of sound mat (at least that was what was under my 2001 996 C4 rear seat carpet).

So if your question arises because of the picture you posted above seems more shallow, I am pretty sure that you can write that off as focal length and flash voodoo.

I think I have some pictures of the back of my C4 partially disassembled somewhere, let me see if I can dig them up.

These pictures are not as clear as the GT3 one you posted, but if you look at the first one where the socket set is sitting, it looks the same height as in the GT3.

I always thought the back seats were a joke unless you had a toddler or two who you felt obliged to take around the block. You would think that a car approaching 100K could be fitted without those dumb seats if requested. Fitted luggage or some additional storage space would make a lot of sense to me.

back seats are far from a joke as i've often fit kids (its more than enough room for them), women (tall blonds complain...but screw em..if they wanna walk...they can walk).....and cargo (the seats are cheap vynil..who cares about putting some 2x4's on em. they're good to have..and only add about 25 lbs (belts and all) to a car.

my 2 cents...1.45 in USD

I find
the back seats very helpful...When I need to put a suitcase in the car, I can fold them down and they are designed to allow such an item to sit on them without sliding...

I do want to get rid of them still haha
