Default Red light on my key fob.....

I started my 02 911 C4S today, (had not started it in a week) but couldn't lock or unlock the door by pressing the button on the fob. However, it locks and unlocks manually just fine.

When I shut off the car, I noticed the red light is still on (key fob) and won't shut off. Car starts and shuts off normal.

I got out my other key fob and that works fine, unlocks and locks the doors by remote and the red light on the fob goes off.

Regarding the first key fob, Why is the red light still on? Does it need a battery?

thanks

It is perfectly normal that the key will not remotely unlock/lock that car after (i think) 3 days. The car goes into a power saving mode and you have to unlock it manually. Once you do that, the key should then work as normal immediately.

Right, I know about the powersave mode and I did unlock the car manually.

Even after doing that, the fob still won't work and the Red light is stuck on. I assume the Red light is still on because something is wrong with the Fob.

My back up fob works fine so something must be wrong with this one?

Unlock the car and press the button on the fob while the key is still in the door...

Maybe it's start the car and press the button while its in the ignition

open the fob, flip the battery for 10 sec, then put in back in the right way. This "reboots" the remote. It's worked for me when the fob has acted up.

Do I need to get a new battery from the dealer, or can I get a battery cheaper from an Indy or elsewhere?

thanks
