There was a TSB from the mid-eighties but I haven't seen anything since.

I know Audi used to recommend it for their cars. I've used it for years in my Porsches and other cars. One bottle at each oil change. Supposedly cleans the valves and combustion chamber as well as the injectors. I've never paid to have injectors cleaned even on cars with 150K miles. Seems like an inexpensive way to avoid problems.

Anyone run into issues with using this stuff? My 996 runs perfect but if it helps clean up the valves a bit maybe it's worth putting it in. I'd just hate to see something adverse come from using this.

Kinda confusing........there are now several Techron products (used to be simple )
1st 'Techron Concentrate Fuel System Cleaner'.
Then....Techron Pro-Gard Fuel Injector Cleaner, Fuel Injector Plus Intake Valve Cleaner, Gas Treatment, and Clean Up.
Definately not all the same.
Pro-Gard products have less a concentration.
I think Chevron says Techron Concentrate Fuel System Cleaner is the most concentrated....will clean combustion chamber deposits....is approximately 100% more active ingredient in the Techron Concentrate than the Pro-Gard Fuel Injector Cleaner.

Also...if you always used Chevron gas, I think they say you should be getting enough Techron .....ie should not have to purchase the Concentrate.

I'd like to try this out, but I have a quick question. Do you have to burn it with a tank of gas all at once? My concern is that my 4S isn't going to see many miles until the weather gets a little better. It may take me 2-4 weeks to burn up a tank. Will it harm anything for the Techron to be sitting in there with the gas for that long?

Hi,
Techron is a wonderful fuel system and combustion system/valve head-seat cleaner. It has been around for nearly 40 years and is the "grandfather" of all other such cleaners.
Many competitors are licensed back to the original Manufacturer, Caltex-Chevron. Some are indeed rebadged Techron combined perhaps with other ingredients

The TSB's intent is to use the Concentrate. Use of Techron does not show up in Used Oil Analysis (UOA)

Regards

I don't think it will harm it, as long as the concentration isn't too great, since this same additive is already added to Techron gasoline at the pump. That said, there is no way to be sure that a full bottle of this stuff is the same ratio that Techron puts in their gas.

I would wait until you can drive the car good and hard, but if you want to add a good fuel stabilizer to your gas while it sits, I would put in STA-BIL. That stuff can sit in the tank for over a year.
