Default Ignition key lock Removal

What a pain I'm trying to remove the ignition keylock and switch assy. I removed the (1) nut and bolt that attaches it to the steering column and it seems loose and pulls out about 1/8" but will not come out all the way, seems almost like you need to push a pin or something to release it.

Any gurus out there.

you need to turn the ign on (to the right) then theres a small hole in top of where the lock housing goes into the coul you need a small pick to dpress the pin

Default Hole location

The reason I am removing is because I can not turn the key? I was hoping to remove just the switch and try to turn the key but, but it's one piece. Is there a set screw of some kind maybe?

Not sure where you mean to cut it? Is that where you depress the pin to release it in the picture ?

STARTING FROM THE RIGHT , you will need to cut an inch in < that direction in a few spots and break off in between where you cut

Just suggested that since Gulf V1 is talking about flamming and cutting parts. Brad, that assembly is attached to the left side of the dashboard, without un-screwing it the assembly would not be able to be pulled out. Could that be part of the problem?

I was reffering to the screw that is on the bracket that holds the assembly to the dashboard. When I replaced mine I had to reome the assembly from that bracket in order to pull it out. It can be accessed removing the left side vent where the main light switch is located. Wish I had taken pictures of the process. Yes lock cilinders are expensive.

Default Crap

Still no joy tried removing the switch with no luck tried removing the key barrel but it needs to be in position 1 or "ON" so can't do that, I have now given up on the FLAME Thower and am going to my COLT 45. Can I cut the area around where the PIN is so I can pull out without depressing the PIN usiing a dremel? My project is missing the DME and Alarm and need to be replaced so I think I will need to get all pieces including Lock and keys so I can get everything to work so the lock and key are going to be trashed anyway.

May sound stupid but... is the key the correct key, does it opens the doors?
Could be the key is not the key for that car.
