Default Perfect 996 to be sold

I am listing my 2003 996 C2 on the classifieds here today and Auto Trader. 11,450 miles, Speed Yellow, w/matching rear console, seat backs and belts, heated sport seats, litronics and washers, new PSE, 18" Carrera's, brand new Pagid Sport pads, clear bra, 09/09 CPO and Porsche Certificate of Authenticity.

Car is absolutely perfect in every respect and sits indoors, under cover sealed with Klasse, plus three coats of Klasse Glaze and three coats of P21S carnuba.

$57,000, extras such as brand new OZ 19's, and covers are negotiable. This car is a 10 out of 10 and the interior console and seat backs/belt are a 2k option alone. You will find cheaper 996's. I seriously doubt you can find a more perfect one though, optioned as this is and with such low miles.

Many more pictures available upon request. 203-376-9551 dennismcohan@comcast.net

That's what I paid for a perfect 2003 C2 with less miles and the same options from a warm climate area 2 years ago. Good luck. And trust me, I am routing for you!

Beautiful car but yellow just isn't my thing. Good luck.

Question though, are those original seats ? I really do not like the seats in my '99 c2 and would consider replacing them, just don't know with what. Would like much more support.

Ramp, they are the original Sport seats, these are heated. Significantly more support than the regular seats. Know what you mean about the yellow. I thought the same thing at first but all of a sudden just fell in love with it. When really cared for it looks like you could dip your hand into it all the way up to the wrist.

PorschePRH I either should have you search for my next car or you just had different options!!

The other three on the Rennlist classifieds have either: 1.) 3x the miles; 2.) more $ and less (CPO) warranty or 3.) is a Targa, nicely optioned too.

Auto trader shows similar #'s for SIMILAR cars. Think CPO until 09/09.

You really have to look at apples to apples closely, some buyers will and others will not, I know. The PSE is $2500. Matching exterior color on the seat backs, console and belts is over 2k. Clear bra and brand new brakes is $1,200.

Location doesn't matter, she sleeps when the weather is cold or wet.

Not to mention...... she's Speed Yellow. A very seductive color up close

Yellow can be seductive - I think its a life timing matter. Years ago I had a yellow Prelude - loved every minute with that car. I guess I've just toned down a bit.

Any thoughts on where to go for better powered seats that would not need any modification and work just like the OEM ?

Thanks - btw, I did email your car to a friend that I am trying to convince to make his first P purchase. Unfortunately, I don't think he's quite there yet.

CTO3911, your car is beautiful. Good luck with the sale. What are you going to replace it with? Hopefully a turbo or GT3.

Been searching for a GT3. 70% sure that will be the one but the other 30% of me keeps looking at other options like a dedicated track/race car.

Beautiful car but yellow just isn't my thing. Good luck.

The problem with yellow is that most people either love it or hate it. The $57K price maybe just a tad high for a low mileage car in perfect condition with a CPO warranty, but it's not that far off IMO. I think it will take a lot of patience to find the right buyer. It's not uncommon for Porsche Dealers near me to keep high priced used Porsches on their lots for around a year before they sell them, and that's with all of the foot traffic that Dealers attract.

Yea, you should definitely have me negotiate for you -- I have been in high-end sales for more than a decade.

By the way, you can't just add up cost of upgrades and tack them on to the price of the car. Many mods get nothing back, and some lower the pricing.

I have PSE, and they cost me $900 by shopping around.

Clear bra can be put on yourself for $30...

I have new brakes, they cost me $100/axle. Most 911 buyers would want the stock pads in there also.

Etc...

You overpaid on those items, and most new buyers aren't going to pay for your mistakes.

And yellow is out. Orange is the new yellow right now. Mine is Red, and that's a classic color that never goes out of style. But the 911 crowd is enamoured with silver and black. So don't count on anything for the yellow. Maybe subtract.

And I have heard the stories before of cars that have "never see snow or rain." It might be true, but so many people BS that, you can't believe them. It would be the equivalent of believing that every sales rep is always telling the truth.

But, like I said, I am routing for you since it will keep my resale value up... You know what they say in sales: "A sucker is born evey minute." And you only need one to make your day.

Your car is nice and I'm a big fan of Yellow as well. To be honest with you, your price seems high to me. I am not saying yours do not worth that much but consider that people can pick up a 03 C4S with similar milage and trims for around $57k to $59k. Unless you are not in a hurry to sell your C2, otherwise, it may takes some time to find the right buyer.

PRH, read your last post again... do you really need to "share" all that knowledge and screw with CTO3s post?

i think crack is being smoked

you can get a 2001 TT slightly higher miles for the same cash

options make the car more attractive but don;t add much to the sales price

KBB trade-in is $45k $48 - 50k is realistic private party

nada retail is 53k - again, 50k is realistic private party

Unfortunately in this market you are over priced. Please don't take it the wrong way, we are all trying to help you. We all love our cars, and have all been guilty of living in an "American Idol" fantacy about our cars value. Pricing your car appropriately will save you a lot of frustration down the road. Also wait until summer, even advertising your car now is likely a waste of your time even if it's priced appropriately.

Another thing; The fire extinguisher mounted infront of the driver seat coupled with the Pagid pads tells me the car has been tracked...that is a big no no if you want top dollar.

Here is a pricing report from Edmunds. Note: It quotes $53,676 for CPO, but this is for CPO from a dealer, so you need to detract some $ since this is a private sale, and it is a partial CPO remaining situation. This is for a car with your options (I assumed you have PSM if you don't then subtract). I have found edmunds most closely resembles what you can expect to get, however be prepared that even edmunds seems to quote a little high in this very tough 996 market, and sellers of 996's in the real world are actually getting less.

The Middle column is for Private Party.

2003 Porsche 911 Carrera Rwd 2dr Coupe (3.6L 6cyl 6M)
Trade-In Private Party Dealer Retail
National Base Price $38,428 $41,278 $43,610
Optional Equipment $2,080 $2,243 $2,642
Heated Front Seats $187 $201 $237
Sport Seats $182 $196 $231
Traction Control $562 $606 $714
Xenon High Intensity Discharge Headlights $496 $535 $630
18 Inch Wheels $653 $705 $830
Color Adjustment
Yellow $0 $0 $0
Regional Adjustment
for Zip Code 92886 $83 $89 $94
Mileage Adjustment
11,450 miles $1,457 $1,457 $1,457
Condition Adjustment
Outstanding $1,907 $1,951 $2,110
Total $43,955 $47,018 $49,913

Certified Used Vehicle $53,676

Again this is just an estimate, and sellers seem to be getting a bit less., but is a good place to start with your asking price.

Good luck with your sale.
