Great setup Rob. Nice to see the pics. I'm still debating about getting the hardtop. DPS Motorsports in LA was telling me they may be getting some in for $1,500 a pop. Something about the wholesaller wanting to clear some space. Seems like a pretty good deal to me.

For $1500 just do it! That's a steal. Many of the Porsche dealers during the rein of the 996s were stuck with many of these as cab owners just left them at the dealers, claiming they had no room to store them!

Dan -

Yeah, I've been thinking that, but then I'm paranoid about having the soft top down and folded for such long periods of time. Anyone have any problems with that??

Absolutely not. What you should do of course is to keep the top in tip-top shape so that when it is put away it doesn't get worse!

I just finished installing the EZ Top thingy last night and wow. What a gadget! It makes having a hard top that much nicer. I drove the car with the hardtop on today just because!

How are you thinking of getting that hardtop to Oregon?

Freight somehow. Just so long as they package it very well. It can take the slow route.

Turns out I'm getting a new plastic window. The body shop, #1 recommended in Portland, tossed a rag with chemicals on it while doing work. Etched the window. So now they have to replace it on them. I showed the production mgr on Thursday what they did and he took his hand and rubbed the window veritcally to get the dirt off. I cringed. He then read the bottom corner of the window and made a sound. I said "what?" and he goes "says not to rub window dry" and I go 'yeah, that why's it's still dirty and I didn't rub it". You would think these people would know these things. In the end though, I knew they were going to replace it.

If you weren't in a hurry I could carry it up toward you. I'm heading to Oregon the end of July. (Eugene).

Thanks for the offer Dan. Nice setup in the garage. I called last week to check and see if they had the $1500 hard tops in yet and he said no. So for now, it's on hold. I'm still kinda so-so on it so unless I get a good deal I'll probably wait.

Right now I'd just be happy to get my car back.

Eugene huh? Just had lunch there last week at Steelhead Brewery. Raging Rhino beer was good, service was slow. Very busy though - I'll give them that.

Dan -
Very nice set up. Quick question - what are those white "foamy" looking things attached to your garage wall, which I assume are to prevent door dings? I have a 3 1/2 ft cinderblock wall running around the bottom of my garage and have tried attaching various rubber "things" to protect my car doors, but nothing looks or works very well.
Thanks

Please private PM me with details on the ez top hoist you have FS.

Pics would be great!
Is it a complete kit or just hardtop removal bracket unit?
If complete kit, Electrical or Manual?
Condition of unit & pads?
Will it fit a 996/997 Hardtop?
Asking price?
Can it be shipped via UPS?

Thanks

I just got a hardtop for my ‘03 911-996 cabriolet and now, since I have no floor space in my garage, I have heard about, and seen pictures of the EZ Top hoist, and I can’t seem to find them anywhere. Does anyone know if they’re still making them?, I’d be interested in one for my top. Any help? Thanks. Dave

you can make a hoist for under $150. There are two different ideas here.

I would like to get one of these, but the only E Z Top I find is in England/Germany and for $700. Bit too high for me. Can’t seem to find a previously owned one either. Would love to find one like yours in the $2-300. Range.
