Default mpg

What's the best mileage any of you have ever achieved in a 996 C2?

I decided to try one day, and drove like grandma would: 31.4 mpg at freeway speed. I was surprised. Normal city traffic I get closer to 19 - 21 mpg.

Coincidentally, these are also the thirst 3 digits of pi.

Never drive that slow again...have some self-respect. There is an image to uphold here. I just drove from Daytona to Jacksonville with a pack of BMWs. Average speed was 95 and the Avg MPG was 26.

The only time I pay attention to gas or MPG is when it's time to get more. There are certain things I simply don't pay attention to in the Porsche, and fuel consumption is one of them.

My trip from San Diego to Vegas and back last night got me 23.1mpg. I had cruise control set anywhere from 88-95mph on the way there for traffic, and 100mph on the way back.

When going across country this past summer to Grand Rapids, MI and back, I set cruise to 95mph most of the way, and I got 23.5mpg. At 90mph, I get right around 25mpg.

If you drive that slow twice in one year, you are GUARANTEED to have a RMS leak! Read the fine print in your manual.

I got a flat tire about 100 miles outside of my home. Had to put on the donut and drive all the way back at 55MPH. I averaged 30.9 MPG. Simply amazing that these are 30MPG cars.

Try filling your tank and then zero out your odometer. Drive until your low gas light comes on then fill up and divide miles by # of gallons. That should be the accurate way to determine mileage. I don't rely on the computer to determine gas mileage.
