Cool video! Thanks for the post! We could use the performance of the C2 in the snow as argument to re-question the necessity of AWD in the 996. This clearly shows that it's about the tires and the driver, not about C2 versus C4.

Whatever you guys want to believe...believe. Me, I drive AWD in the rain and snow...there is a reason the quattro's were outlawed in just about every touring car series they entered...they always won unless they carried weight beyond fair.
IMHO of course.

I keep telling people at work that the 911 is perfectly happy in snow when they ask if I'm bringing the car out to play - they never believe me until I point out the obvious that the weight of an engine on the drive axel is a perfect recipe for traction.

Not to pick on BMWs, but every year, after the first snow of the year I see a BMW struggling to get traction - it's amazing. They should be lucky to have our traction.
Last week we had a minor snowfall that froze (during the morning drive) and I saw a BMW stuck half way up a slight incline - immobile and spinning it's wheels. It was a sad sight.

I have noticed the same thing about BMW's. Just try to drive a 3 series/M3 in the same manner you can toss a C2 around in the snow. The "3" just doesn't cut it.

IMHO it's mainly about the tires! I had several BMW 3 series with RWD in the alps with good winter tires and was able to outperform most other 2 wheel drive cars in the snow. Now I've an X3 with all season tires and on the rare snowy days here in VA I hardly get any grip despite AWD. I'd say that 70% are the tires and 30% makes the drivetrain.

The guy is a poser!!!
Can't you see he has his wing up well below 75 mph and at a speed that the wing will make no difference to aerodynamics ...
