Default Carrera Decal Pictures

I was just curious what people thought about the side scripting on a base 996. I've always like the look, and to me it makes it look retro. Any comments would be great. They will be getting replaced though by spring with ones that match the wheels. I have 5 pix under "Carrera Decals" folder. Thanks for any opinions good or bad.

I'm not a big fan of the decals on a black car. It looks best on a white car in my opinion.

Not my cup of tea, but then I never really liked them on the older models. I think it takes away from the clean lines of the 996. Each to his own.

I think they look great. I always wanted to add a little flair to my car.

How about on a midnight blue car that looks black in poor lighting? I do agree that you can't beat white. It's perfect. Thanks everyone so far on the feedback.

Personally I wouldn't have them on my car. I see it as a hint of Rice.

I dont care for it on the 996 but I would have it on an older car- like the one in Donnie Brasco movie- thought it looked right for some reason-?

I am kind of split on it...it looks OK in some pics..and then looks cheesy in others.

I guess in something like this it is better to err on the safe side and NOT get them....

That was my biggest worry. Thanks. lol... I see it as not being rice because I was trying to make it look retro, but I have a feeling that if people don't understand that concept, it will look "tacky" or "riced." I'm not saying you don't get that, people that aren't into Porsche's might not get it. I still appreciate the honesty though.

have to agree, doesn't work for me. I love the styling of the 996 - I see it as sophisticated and classy (yes, I know i'm biased ) but that is a bit tacky for me......

Grant -- I was going to pan you before i saw the photos, but it is a lot more subtle than I expected. I would not put it on mine, but I like it and can see the retro feel that you describe. Don't be afraid to keep it if you like! JK

Nah! Looked good on the older cars, doesn't fit well with the 996. It's like the windshield skript,I know it's a Carrera and that's all that counts.

Interesting idea to put the Carrera decal on a 996 but for me it's an accessory of the 70s and doesn't match the design of the 90s. Originally the color of the decal was meant to be reflected in other accessory - wheels, parts of the bumpers, ... just as on below pics of the classy 911 from the 70s.
