I bought mine in 01, but it looks similar to the 1200 on the thule website. It has a little more of a spoiler effect on the top back edge.

Thanks everyone for replying. I am new to the Rennlist but already know that I will love it. When I logged back on I coupldn't believe all of the responses. Zoolander, thanks for the invite! 42empress, earlyapex, and pjalexandre all sent that you may have a roof transport system for sale. I am definately interested, I just couldn't figure out how to send a PM. I think it is because I am so new and I need to post a few times. So I will get in touch soon. LiveNupe, thanks for the info on the tire transport. I have a harness bar which takes up all the space behind the front seats so I don't think I will be able to get a tire back there. But its a great idea. Thanks!

Hi Everyone, Evidently Rennlist is pretty strict on "Rookies" and I still can not upload pictures or even include my email in a PM. I do have some sweet pictures form my trip to the factory last year. Once I get permission to attach photos they will be on the way!

Kilo - I think once you reach 5 (or maybe it's 7) posts, you will be able to post pics. If you have trouble posting pics, let me know and I'll give you my "can't miss" instructions to post a pic.

Kilo --

I also have the Roof Transport System for my Targa. The biggest downside was the noise, which is probably worse with my glass roof vs. the coupe with the sunroof closed. It starts getting loud above 40 mph, and I occasionally go faster than that ;-) And, if you don't like the way the rack looks on your baby, you are most definitely not gonna like the way the Thule wind fairing looks, though it helps with the noise. The alternative is getting a normal car, but who wants that?!

-- M

P.S. The looks and noise bothered me so much, the rack is now sitting in my garage and I take my wife's RX 300 to my bike races. The fact that I opt for the RX300 should tell you something.

Default Photo or description of 996 Targa RTS

Mikey (or anyone else): Can you post a photo or description of the Roof Transport System for the 996 Targa showing how it connects to the roof? I am trying to figure out what's so different from the coupe RTS that makes the list price go from about $600 for the coupe up to $1100 for the Targa. It seems to me that they would be the same. All of Porsche's Techquipment photos do make them look the same (heck, even the cabriolet RTS looks the same in their literature). Thanks!

I ended installing a Willwood bumper-mounted rack on my 996 Targa. I put a description and photos on 6speedonline at http://www.6speedonline.com/forums/9...che-996-a.html . I am happy with it.
