Default Sport Seat questions

First - please don't hate me because I'm air-cooled - we are all p-car fans!
Second, I did search prior to posting and I cannot find the specific answers to these questions.

That said - here goes...

I picked up a really nice set of crested 996 sport seats. I am going to be putting these into my 97 993 (yes I know the power connectors need to be changed, along with some other minor modifications to make them work).
Prior to installation I would like to get the seat-backs painted and heat added.
Does anyone know of the "best" shop in the Saint Louis, MO area to do this work? (Specifically, removal/ replacement of the seat backs and installation of carbon heat panels.) The bodyshop I trust has suggested one upholstery place, my local indie wrench a different one; I was just wondering if any Rennlisters had some ideas.
Where did people have the heat switch placed for add-on heat? Pictures always help.

Thanks in advance!

just a thought...might be cheaper to sell those and buy a set of heated sport seats....If you use the porsche parts, the cost to add heat is about $1000 in parts....

Good point, but I cannot find any heated sport seats. Do you have a source?
The heating is only a possibility at this point, cost is a factor, but I am still looking for a local shop who can pull and replace the seat-backs. I also have OEM CF interior bits I need installed properly, so I really need a good shop.

I hope Russ you are somewhat short and do not use a helmet. You are going to sitting a lot higher (about and inch and a half) in that seat bolted to a 993. Sport seats are pretty easy to take apart. Never tried to heat a sport seat. Should be pretty simple with the right parts and a little wiring.

Bob -

At 5'6" the extra height with the seat was one of the "side effects" I was looking for!

Lowering the whole car, however...... We'll be talking!

Well Russ, sounds like they'll work out well for you. I really like the Sport Seats. They are pretty cheap as seats go due to the large supply of them. Reid Vann is about the only place in St. Louis that I know of to take a Porsche. Good luck...

rkb - check out this web site "www.dennisvogel.com" and look in his Boxster section for the article on heated seat. It has great instructions for adding heat to your seats with OEM parts. I adpated it to a 996, very minor changes. total parts cost from Sunset was about $600.00. However, in a 993 I don't know if the relay carrier is the same, or where you would put the OEM switches so aftermarket might not be a bad way to go. You could use the OEM heated cushions and aftermarket wiring.
