Muffler interchange?
Does anyoine know if a stock 997 muffler will fit on a 2000 996? I would like to make a bypassed muffler fairly cheaply and found a good deal on some 997 take-offs. I want to keep my stock mufflers intact incase I need to go back to factory sound(read... my wife may complain too much). I have done the bypass on a boxster before and the 996 bypass actually looks easier. I have heard that the early mufflers don't make much difference anyways when bypassed, so I have been looking for a set of cheap newer style mufflers. So if the 997 style will fit I will try them.

Here is a suggestion, if you can afford them get it. I am not sure if the 997 will work but take a look at these...You can switch them from full by-pass to nice sport mufflers with the flip of a switch. Just a thought. The wife would like the convenience of the switch. Check out these videos.
