PSS9 Installation on C4
Anyone have experience doing the PSS9 installation on C4? From my searches, I found the DIY instructions for the C2:
C2 Instructions
But, I also learned that there is some differences at the front. Anyone have information or experience with the C4? I'm hoping to do the install this weekend.
Thanks in advance!

See posts 3 and 4 in the linked post. I think that's what you need, but I don't know what any of that stuff looks like.

If you PM me before you start I may be able to be "on call" to help if you need it, at least on Saturday. That said, I've never f'ed with a C4.

rbarna,
I am planning to install the PSS9 on my C4S. Looked at threads from rennlist and renntech, as you know, no DIY for C4 and C4S. Today, I took off the front wheel and try to picture the procedure to take out the strut assembly. I am not sure how & what needed to take off, drive shaft, tie rod, ball joint.....etc in order to drop the wheel carrier. Would you mind take some pictures and share with me?
Your help is greatly appreciated!

bcmagnum,
You need to remove the outtermost nut on the driveshaft. you will need a really big socket to get it off. In your picture the nut is just to the left of the caliper. then you need to disconnect the lower control arm and the forward tie rod that connects to the steering. I used the special tools for disconnecting the ball joints on those... $30 tool i found online somewhere. then, disconnect the caliper from the wheel carrier. then remove the entire wheel carrier/strut assembly. it will then be easy to remove the strut and put the new one on.
to put everything back together, put the wheel carrier back on the driveshaft, reconnect front and lower control arms, reinstall the driveshaft nut and then put the caliper on. be careful with putting the driveshaft nut back on, mine stripped and i had to re-die the shaft and buy new nuts (only $9 each from the dealer).
be sure to torque the driveshaft nut to 340ft/lbs!

You don't need to remove any part of the axle shafts. If you pop the lower balljoint, push the control arm down, and shove the strut to the front (off the ball joint), it will give you enough room to rotate the strut out away from the car. Then you just have to tap the strut out of the carrier, drop the new one in. Nothing difficult.

Only about a gabillion times.
