Default New Member Saying Hello

Hello everyone. I purchased my first 911 August '05 and have been lurking here from time-to-time. There's lots of great info here and finally found time to become a member.

I've wanted a 911 for 20+ years and am finally at a point in my life where I can justify/afford one. Probably not the first time someone has said that. The car is a 2000 C4 Millennium Edition, #306 of 911. I bought it at a local dealership as a CPO car with ~7700 miles on it. All I can say is the car is fabulous. I smile everytime I drive it and it's everything I had imagined.

The pics below are after I detailed the car with Menzerna products and a PC. It had lots of spider webbing and swirls from the previous owner. I tried P21S at first, but the cleaner was not intense enough to get out the swirls. I had never used an acrylic sealant before, but the Menzerna stuff has made me a believer. It was the first time I had used a PC and the Menzerna polishes turned out to be very safe and easy to use. Any way, here's some pics.

Very sharp looking.

Can I ask what the interior color is?

The interior color is called "Millenium" natural brown. It was unique for that MY, but I've seen 997's recently that have interiors almost identical in color. Here's a pic of the interior when I bought the car. I was searching around and realized I don't have too many of the interior. When I first saw the car, the wood and the polished wheels were almost to "blingish" for me. But, it grew on me pretty quickly. The exterior color is "Violettchromaflair". They only made 911 of the Millennium Editions. You'll notice from the pics it goes from a subtle eggplant color to a dark olive. Not everyone's cup of tea, but certainly unique. The first question I get asked is "What color is that?".

This car is absolulely sweet! I've had the occasion to ride in it several times. With the switch flipped to open up the exhaust, it has that quintessential Porsche 911 sound... makes me want to go to Sebring (via Melbourne)....

... and yes, the paint is pretty stunning...

Looks like you did a good job on the detail.

That is an interesting color. I would love to see one in person.

Very striking. I usually do not care for wood in 996's but with the outside color it works very well on your car

What's the exterior color? I thought it was Black, then Basalt Black, but now it looks like it's way too purple-y for that... I like it!

This interior looks pretty
There are not many 996 Millenium with manual gear box

The paint looks new. Have you polished the car?

Thanks everyone for the positive comments.

justinmm2 - The exterior color is "Violettchromaflair Metallic". And you're right, it's hard to pin down what it is. At night or a cloudy day it looks like Basalt Black, or some charcoal metallic. In the sun it goes from a very deep eggplant (aubergine) to dark olive green. Fortunately, the eggplant color is very subtle and doesn't scream purple at you. Polarized sunglasses really intensifies the color.

Edgy01 - Pretty car. And yes, that's the natural brown I have seen in a couple of 997's locally. Someone in the local PCA has a Midnight Blue/Natural Brown 997 that is a very nice combination.

juankimalo - I'm not sure what the breakdown is between Manual/Tip Millenniums. I did see once that 360 total where sold in the US. And yes, I have polished the car. All Menzerna products (Intensive Polish, Final Polish II, Finishing Touch Glaze, and FMJ). It had a lot of swirl marks when I got it. I used a Porter Cable Dual Action polisher to do the work. It was my first attempt with Menzerna or a PC. Both products are very easy to work with. The only drawback is that the Intensive polish dusts up quite a bit and I had to use a microfiber and an alchohol solution to get all the residue off.

That is an absolutely stunning car. Wow, and low miles to boot. Welcome and enjoy it.
