996 High Oil Pressure
2000 Porsche 996 45k miles
A week after an oil change I started to get a high oil pressure reading on the interstate, 5bar +. I switch oil back to 0w-40 but had no change. I decided to see if the oil pressure relief spring was jammed. I pulled out the Oil piston spring, Oil piston and reinserted. Oil pressure settled back down between 4 and 5 bar.
The oil piston spring was replaced at 32K miles to fix a Low oil pressure light on. A 13$ part and a 2min fix for over 100$. I have and extra spring incase the old one goes bad.
2000 Porsche 996 C2 Cab
Eibach springs.
Short shifter
Fabspeed Exhaust.

Did you find out what this issue is? I ask because my 2000 C4 just came down with the same symptom. Does your car make any noise?

Installed a new oil pressure sender, 54$ 996-606-203-00-M100. Oil pressure back to normal! A 19mm 45 or 90 degree angle wrench would have made it a very easy to change. The sensor is located on the right side of the motor.

Actually, the part number is 996-606-203-01 (recently revised from 996-606-203-00).
I got one from Sunset for $35.77.
And it looks like the same damn thing they've been using since 1970. You'd think by now they could get it right.
