Default 996 Climate Control Relocate

Hello everyone, as of today I am the proud owner of a 2003 Carrera4 cabriolet . Guard's red with black interior. I want to replace my Pioneer AVIC-N3 navi (it's in the stock head unit spot) with the Alpine IVA-W200. Is this a good switch? I'd prefer a flat panel screen rather than a motorized one.

I also would like to know how to relocate the climate control to the bottom of the center console right below the cd storage spot. Is this something I could do myself or does it require shop work?

Thanks in advance!

Climate Control can be relocated to the lower sections...and you replace the storage cubby with a small trim kit that goes around the a/c controls.

Go to our Gallery page (bumperplugs.com) and look at the Speed Yellow interior shot.

Oh, man!!! A guy takes an afternoon "off" to go golfing and one of the Newbies tries to sneak one buy me!

Mitty - Hot damn! I guess I'm getting a "rep," just like Dell!

Dell - thanks for watching my back! I noticed you are continuing your "kinder/gentler" approach to Newbies! I kinda miss the "WFT - you &^$%#@!* where are the pics and how about a *&%$#@% intro!" Ok..... maybe I exaggerated a bit!

Nice looking cab. Congrats and Welcome to the best Porsche Forum on the 'net! Don't mind us, we just look at this as Newbie Initiation! Yes, you should be able to re-locate the climate control to the lower position.

Here are a couple of mod suggestions: Clear side markers and aluminum gauge rings.

Definitely fixing the side markers and rings. I've a list a page long of mods I'm planning. I was also thinking about doing a two-tone red interior.

Has anyone tried relocating their climate control to the space where the CD holder is/was (right below the Sat Nav in the uppermost space on the lower console)?

I need to do this to make more space to mount my radar/camera detector unit, and it seems that it just doesn't fit. Is there a different center console part number with slots so this can be done, or do I have to take my Dremel to the whole thing?

Thanks in advance

Have you looked into the Pioneer AVIC-Z1 (www.avic411.com) instead of the Alpine unit. The AVIC is an all in one unit, and you wouldn't have to find space for the other box. There is also an Eclipse unit which is all in one.
