On Saturday, I went to get tires mounted on a new set of wheels. The tire shop was completely careless and ended up scratching the polished lip. There are two 1 inch gashes In addition to what looks like curb rash. There are several quarter inch scraches and dents as well. They must have dragged the wheel on the floor
. On top of that, they could not even mount the tire. On the way out, the sales rep goes "We did not want to risk damaging the wheel, and if we mount the tire, there will be a leak".
I would like to know how I can get this repaired. I know that Alloy Wheel Repair can repair damaged wheels, but is there any DIY or magic cream I can use to make it look new?
I have contacted the head quarters of this shop, and if they are not willing to accept responsibility, I'll post a buyer beware here. But in the meantime, I just want to get these wheels fixed.
TIA

If the wheel is bare aluminum with a polished surface you may need to have the 'gash' filled by TIG first. Then you can sand flush and polish the weld repair.

Hi Alan, Thanks again for the help Saturday morn. I got the PSS9s installed, then went to get the tires mounted. It was a mess. The wheels are bare with a polished surface.
Riad I checked out that link and the surface looks very different.
Thanks for the advice everyone.

I ended up putting them on myself. Alot of people claim it only takes them 15 minutes to install each. It took us all day to get them in and adjust the ride height.

Just got back from another shop who will be mounting the tires. The company that attempted to mount them the first time has really screwed this up. The tire's beads are all torn up, and the new company refuses to mount it. They said they doubt the tire will hold air, and even if it did there is a chance it might blow out.
So question number two is.........is there anyway to repair a the bead in the tire. Otherwise, I'll be ordering another tire that cost $460 shipped.
