Simply apply a hose clamp around the circumference of the oil filler cap and tighten.

If the oil cap is not tight and somehow work its way out during a DE run it might cause an oil fire.

Guess how I find out! I was lucky that there were no damage but took 2 hours to clean up the mess.

My oil filler cap came loose (but did not fall off) last Winter at Thunderhill. At the end of the second session enough oil had sloshed out that it began dripping on the exhaust. Not fun to see flames under the engine compartment. We held off on using the fire extinguisher and after what seemed like an eternity, but probably was only a minute or so, the exhaust cooled enough to stop igniting the drips. I missed the next session while I cleaned up with the help of a very kind volunteer instructor (thanks Eric), and was back for the last two sessions. I installed a new filler cap the next week, but haven't tried a hose clamp yet.

Wow. Can someone post a photo of that? I get it, but I would like to see one on the cap.

It's not that unusual. All of our tract addicts have them - 2 min. job to install.
