Price input: 1999 C2 coupe
I am considering a 1999 C2 coupe 40k miles but a pretty base car. 3 owners, no accidents and limited records. No leaks. Black on black. Body is clean. No pending maintenance or mechanical issues per the owner. I would need a thorough PPI before moving a head. Car is out of town so I have not driven it yet. Two questions:
* Current owner seems motivated to sell to raise funds for a business. What would be a great price for this 996?
* I know a lot of people advise steering clear of 1999's but there is also support from 1999 owners who have not had issues. In spite of what may be a great price is it better to stick with a 2000/2001 model. 2002's are currently just out of my budget.
Thanks.

The advantage of a 99 C2 is that you can find them with LSD. They do not have all the "sissy" controls such as PSM and egas. The 99 has a strong engine and is no more problematic than any of the subsuquent years. It's the best DRIVERS 996 they have made.

Heck, $32-35K can buy you a decent coupe from a private party without looking too hard, with a few options. I found 46 on AutoTrader with 60K mi and under (most were under 50K). That's the range I was looking for when I bought my '00 cab (w/10k more miles) last week.

Also need input, I found a very nice 99 C4 Cab with factory Aero kit, full tan leather, all electric and have managed to get a price of 36600, however it is located in CA (I'm on the eastcoast), so I'll have to fly out and arrange for it to be shipped back so in total I estimate it will cost close to 39.
Any thought's?

EXLondoner: sounds high, prices are in low 30's.
TRW: Same, low 30's; as close to 30 as you can get him. Under 33 your still ahead with a great car for a great price, over 33 and its still a great car but there are others equally as nice selling for less.

The car is priced at $28,000 which is his bottom line price on the vehicle. Sounds like if it passes a PPI it would be a great buy. If I pass on it if anyone is interested in the info on it PM me and I will forward the ad.

TRW- sounds like a good buy, if PPI check out.
Exlondoner-with all that extra "stuff", $36600 sounds like a great buy. It's a C4, reaalll low miles, and aero kit. If you must fly out, then you should drive it back! What a great adventure in a great car! $300 ticket, $300 gas, $400 for 4 nights hotel.

If everything thing is in good condition or better; take it.
2 months ago I bought mine from a p-dealer for 37,800. 2000 C4 with a couple options,48,000 miles but no aero package for me. I also will need new tires and brakes in the next 5000 miles.
When I was looking to buy I found that miles not year played the biggest part. years 99-01
Prices are still falling month after month.
