My manual holder with manual, radio manual, & one other book (can't remember what it is) all fit in my holder.

Ask the folks around you to be a little less noisy, maybe the keyboard will change it's mind....

I can't beleive all of this riff-raff comes from just one simple question about this strange pocket under the dash. You guys just have too much fun whipping crap on each other. It's all good. By the way it can be removed if you have the right wrench.....who wants to put their manual in there anyway?

I have had my manuals in the pocket under the steering wheel since I bought the P...it is a tight fit,,but it fits and it doesn't feel like it is going to fall down anytime soon.

I got under there with a flashlight and it looks like a rounded head. Does not look like any tool can be used to remove. As stated by VOVE, if you just rip it out, can it be put back in for the next owner?

It is a euro size map holder. Some people put their manuals in it. A hat. Their lunch. Whatever.

Somewhere in all the Porsche publications I have there is a warning not to put heavy stuff in there.

It is held in place with 2 plastic rivets. You push out the pin in the middle of the rivet. Some people are just able to just yank it out.

It went away when the glove box came out.

Boxster got the glove box in 2003. Thought the 996 go it in 2002. So you would not have the map holder.

My 1997 Boxster does not have one, as it started in 1998.

No, you have a glove box, so no "shelf."
