Smile Can anyone identify this front spoiler?

I have a Polar Silver 2000 996 with the factory Aero Kit (see Pic), unfortunately the front lip is a bit nasty from curb rash. I would like to replace it with something a bit more pronounced. Can anyone identify the lip on the yellow 996 car? I like the black look in the pic, but cannot tell i it is carbon fiber or just painted.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Jeff

Default Good retail store for GT3 spoiler?

Great, thanks for the info. I wasn't sure if it was from a 2000-2001 GT3 or not. Do you know of a good aftermarket outfit that carries them?

Great!

The link was very helpful. The final lip on the maroon 996 looks very nice. With my silver car it should add just the touch I am looking for. The current silver lip is a bit too subtle. I'm just a bit hesitant to drill holes in the underneath of the bumber, but if that's what it takes then so be it.

I also like the clear lens on the GT3, unlike mine in orange.......someday!!!

Thanks again,

Jeff

First lip is the one on the Mk1 GT3 front and the second lip (yellow car) is the MkII GT3 lip but on a MkI front. I did the same thing to my car some time back and LOVE it!

FYI.....that link is of my car and it is NOT maroon. It is ARENA RED!

Unhappy My appology, sorry about that

Sorry about that dude! You are so right, no offence meant. I love Porsches, but I am not an expert by any means, as you can tell from my original post. But I am willing to learn!

What do you think of the rims on my Silver car? They are Champion Motorsports RG5 19x10 and 19x8.5. I am still undecided if I should swap them out or not and I don’t want to be too rash in making any hasty decisions.

I just picked up the car (actually it was delivered) on Sunday. Only my 3rd Porsche, but first 996. My other two previous cars were an 89’ 944 S2 and a 96’ 993 (see pics). Quite honestly, the 996 has a much better feel and ride that the 993, IMO of course.

Thanks,

Jeff

Absoultely LOVE those RG5's!!! I would get those myself if I could just get that expense past the wife

No biggie on the color.....I was just razzin ya Everybody thinks it is marron until I park it next to a maroom car and then you really see just how red, arena red is.

Nice choice of cars of the years. The silver aero 996 is just divine

The MkII is from an 02+ right? So should fit the normal 02+ bumber with no problems?

The splitter on the Yellow MKI is not the MKII GT3 splitter. The one on the Yellow MKI is different that the splitter on the Arena Red Cab. I purchased the MKII splitter (factory Porsche: 996 505 986 92 01C) for my MKI car, and it does not fit well at all. Regardless of the mis-alignment of the mounting holes which was clearly stated in the other thread, it sticks out too far at the corners. Since the MKI (99-01) is more rounded than the MKII (02-04) it does not fit right, so I am planning to send it back.

So the questions still stands, does anyone know what the front splitter is on the Yellow MK1??

THANKS!

Ok, so I found the problem. Make sure you got 996 595 986 92 and not 996 505 986 92. Check you receipt for the part number as well as the lip itself.

Here is the writeup over on Renntech I was referring to:

Oh No! I bought the wrong lip! I did purchase 996-505-986-92-01C instead of the 996 595 986 92! My Bad, I did not notice the slight hand movement with the different part numbers in the orignal thread.

I'll re-order from Sunset, hopefully they'll take back the original one back.

Thanks for clarifying that for me!
