Bought one!
Finally flipped a coin and chose the '00 Violet Met. Bought from Custom of FTL.
Very professional treatment.
Leaving the dealer now. Hope to make Savannah by dinner.
Thanks everyone for your help. Back to the waterpumpers!
cheers,

Now, for your initiation into the 996 forum you must go back to the 993 forum and make a bunch of outrageously obnoxious comments like "hmmmm, isn't it great that the 996 is lighter, faster and more beautiful than the 993" Like pokin' a stick in a hornets nest. Almost as much fun as going to the 928 forum and saying something like "Isn't it sad how fat and lazy 928s are?"
P.S. Congratulations. May your entry to the water world be dry (i.e., I hope your d%^&ned expansion tank and RMS do not leak).

I'm outside of Savannah. Long Day. Just gettingready to take off. The first 500 miles remind me a lot of my Boxster, except with an extra engine in the front. Since I'm ferrying home the hard top, I don't get to drop the top .
Should be home by 7:30.
I know it's in jest, but I could never say anything bad about my 993. With its wheels and suspension, its ride in comparison is brutal. My wife's kidneys already thank me.
Purchase story and gratuitous pix to follow!

Finally got pix
Hey guys,
Feels like forever that I've posted, but between being buried with a side consulting job, and some med stuff, I finally figured that I'd get around to posting some pix. After driving it for almost two months, this 996 still continues to run really well. I had only one minor issue. I got a CEL, and an odd leak under the car, which I was able to determine, between RL and Renntech, was a bellows leak (definitely owe them a membership as well ). I wasn't able to do the fix myself (the Tips have extra bracing that is in the way), so for a couple hundred bucks, I took it to Autobahn Extremist here in Cleveland. Chris gave the car a once over, and didn't find anything else wrong with the car, though I'll have him re-do one of my wheels that has a little rash on it.
The car pulls strong and hard, and I don't mind the tip at all. The top is new, and my only other pending short-term cost will be to dump the poorly-wearing Rosso's. I’ll probably go with a Schnell exhaust in the spring (thought my ss exhaust is in great shape), just for a better sound. The CAI I bought off of Patric helps a little bit with sound, but the car doesn’t sound anything like my 993. The handling isn’t as quick and cart-like but still great (it is a Porsche!), and more deliberate. I love the color, since it is a bit uncommon, even though a b!tch to keep clean. I kind of regret not getting the cobalt blue car I was considering, but only for color. This car is far better for the same money (a year newer, better wheels and interior, and lits).

Thanks! Yeah, this one is a "she", LOL. Manuell the Boxster and Abe the 993C4, were guys. My wife, being a ***** Wonka fan, calls her "Violet" ("Violet, you're turning violet").
I was never a Savannah interior fan, but I changed my mind, after seeing it with the deviated carpet, and the contrasting dark exterior.
We had a fabulous weekend here in Ohio, so we went for a great drive through the National Rec. Area. The leaves haven't turned yet, so we're hoping for a couple more weekends to get out, now that our lives have bcome a little less hectic.
